Dies for precision rifle in Dillon 750

I am just getting started with a new Dillon 750 and planning to use it for precision rifle loading

currently using Redding type-S dies in one of the Armanov floating die arrangements. The threading on the Redding dies is just barely tall enough to use. The lock ring is barely hanging onto the last thread on the top.

Can anybody recommend FL bushing dies that have threads that extend up higher on the die body?

I think Whidden does but wondering if there are others?

Precision and Dillon don,t belong in the same sentence ,Tommy Mc

How far from the face of the die do you need the threads to go. I can take some measurements of brands that I have on hand.

Hmmm. The 338 Lapua ammo below was loaded on a Dillon 550 with a Prometheus powder measure. A few days after I loaded it, I won an ELR match at NRA Whittington Center in New Mexico.

I am using Redding and Forster dies, I am also using Whidden toolheads.

I would not worry about how much thread you have, the toolhead is holding onto the die. The lock ring just keeps it from moving in and out.

Put the locking ring under the toolhead. I have been loading on a Dillon 550 for years. I don't seat on the Dillon, or dispense powder, except for 222 and 223 fun ammo, but use the 550 for sizing, priming and expander mandrels. The convenience of interchangeable tool heads outweighs the snob value of European presses!

It has been already stated, move the lock ring under the toolhead. And yes, lots of high precision rounds have been loaded on a 750. I have 2 of them both automated with Mark 7 auto-drives and have loaded all my rounds for the past 5 years on them. ~40,000 of them and counting.

When anyone says 'precision', you need to clarify what it means in your context, are you shooting ones and twos, or one MOA, etc.

People talk about their precision as if everyone else is on the same page.

One man's precision can be another man's bad day.

@Hoser - You were the best shooter on the day. You have the ability and equipment to win. The press is incidental.

The biggest boost you can make to your results is confidence. Whatever gives you enough confidence to support your performance - people do spend boatloads of money to save precious time and achieve confidence.

Thank you for the comments on installing the lock ring on the bottom.
I am using a floating lock ring and it requires the lock ring to be installed on the top as far as I can tell.

Perhaps I can flip the tool head upside down and the floating lock rings will work on the bottom. I’ll check it out.
