Dies for 6 BRA

So after doing some more research on the 6 BRA dies, I came across the L.E. Wilson FL bushing sizer as was recomended here, and was going to order the .267 and .268 bushings. The rifle has a .271 neck. I will be getting the 150 fireformed pieces of lapua brass that was shot out of the rifle. I came across plenty of guys who said they have used a 6 dasher seating die with no issues. So I was thinking to just order a Forster 6 Dasher ultra micrometer seating die. Does anyone foresee having issues with this die set up? It would cost around $270 total. I am loading on a Rockchucker press so no inline stuff.

I was going to just punch it out to 6 GT, but since I'm getting the brass with the rifle, I thought maybe this die set up might get me up and running at a lower start up cost. If I rechamber to the 6 GT, that's already $250, then I gotta still buy lapua 6 GT brass at $130, and then still buy the redding bushing sizer at $120, 2 titanium bushings at $80 , and a Forster ultra micrometer seater at $120, for a total of $700. So it would definitely be a lot cheaper route to just keep the BRA chamber if the wilson FL bushing sizer/bushings and forster 6 dasher seater would work at the $270 mark with the supplied BRA brass with the rifle.

Just trying to get this up and running ASAP at the most cost effective way right now. I'm not made out of money.

Thought and opinions needed please!

For the cheap and quick, (bench rest guys cover your ears) a frankford arsenal universal seating die will get you started, and gets me .4 groups that are good enough for a yote gun. When you get serious, a wilson seater and an arbor press is really nice. (Especially if the seater is made with the reamer that cut the chamber). And, with the money you save, get a mandrel to follow that wilson sizer.

Yah I don't know about the FA seater. Read a lot of mixed reviews on them. And as far as getting a seater made with the reamer, that's not gonna happen because I have no idea who built the rifle and what reamer was used, and I don't want to buy an inline press at the moment.

I don't think the above choices are horrible if they'll work. I use the forster ultra micrometer seaters for all my other calibers and redding FL bushing sizers and they work just fine. Should get me well below 1/2 MOA.

Going to call forster Monday and have a chat with them about using their 6 dasher seater for the BRA. The L.E. Wilson fl bushing sizer will definitely work as it's a BRA sizer.

I usually call Amy Bruno to order Wilson dies, if they’re not in stock she gets them in a few days.
The Forster seater you have in mind should a great job.

Thank you for that! So you don't see a reason why the 6 dasher seater wouldn't work correct? Basically same case design, dasher is just a smidge longer. Should be able to just adjust the stem down to the BRA case. I'll give them a call Monday also and see about ordering that sizer and a couple bushings. I believe it is in stock at Brownells currently. Haven't checked Brunos yet.

Dasher seater should work just fine, Bruno’s should have both

I find that using a Forster dasher seater die gives me very erratic seating depths. I can vary the depth by as much as .005 simply by varying pressure on the press handle. Going to an arbor press and die totally eliminates this and gives the best consistency.

I love the Wilson bushing sizer dies

I have 6BRAi well used Lapua brass formed from BR and a fresh lot of BR I’m fire forming
Just got a .268 bushing from Brad $18 shipped
Been running.267 but I’m going to use the .268 and see how the mandrel feels when I size this go around
.272 no turn neck chamber

Wilson dies give me very consistent sizing

While I like my Forster ultramicrometer seater for 223 I have split the stem a time or two over 14 yrs and got some erratic seating depths then Keep spare stems

As to the FA seater die set /Kit
I took a chance and have been very happy with that and more over the three seater stems are VLD compatible and made of thick steel
Seating BTO measurements are spot on and consistent
I can seat many a caliber case and bullet combinations !
No way I will ever develop a micro crack in one of these stems

If you have to buy a new seating die anyways why not get the correct caliber die?

Not sure if this is directed towards me or not, but have you tried finding a BRA specific seating die that's not an inline? It's about impossible without spending $400...That's insane for a die. I'll pass. I do get erratic depths up to .010" difference with the forster on all 3 of my cartridges as it is with the correct die, 223/6creed/7- 300 win mag. I don't sort bullets and the stems haven't been honed to the ELDMs, so that could be why. I usually just seat them all longer, than adjust down in smaller increments until it gets where they need to be.

I may need to think about swirching to an arbor press and inline seater dies in the future. What arbor press would you guys recomend if I decided to go that route?

A couple options.
