Die Questions

I just bought a 6 br factory barrel for my lrpv.I need some die advise. bushing die or bushing less that is the question!! Will it really matter in a factory gun.I will be trying my luck at the factory calss matches. It has the norma chamber but I will be using lapua brass.Any advise would be helpfull.thanks

If you are willing to spend the extra money, a bushing die will give you a lot more flexibility for future 6 br's. You will be able to adjust your amount of sizing and neck tension for different chambers and necks. I have used both and do not see any drawbacks to the bushing dies, other than a little more $). Just my thoughts.

By going to the bushing die, you can use the appropriate bushing size that would allow you to eliminate the neck expander ball from your die, which should eliminate a source for run-out on the case neck.

The bushing die is the only way to go. Harrells custom are the best. They can fit the die to your chamber. You work the brass less with this type die.

Don't sell your factory barrel short. I know guys shooting 2' groups at IBS 600 yds, with a factory Savage.

Another option is getting a Forster Full-length die and then having it honed. I have a die honed to produce a sized neck that is about 0.2673 after springback. This has produced very accurate ammo. Forster only charges about $10.00 to hone the die to your specs.

You can actually get two FL honed dies for not much more than the price of two titanium nitride or carbide bushings.
