Devcon?

I have had a lot of different epoxys with that problem over the years.Turns out that it needs a cool dry place or it begins to degrade.

The hardener in mine started to dry out and clump and change color at the thin points in the can. But after mixing it worked fine for me. However in the future I will be ordering devcon only when I can use 75% or more of it immediately. It is awful useful to have on hand for fixing things but it's to expensive for me to be fine with it going to waste.

I've been using Devcon 10110 for years and never had this problem....then started getting it with the hardener already hard when I opened it for the first time. Now it comes with a seal on the can of hardener and it doesn't last that long after opening. So, I'm thinking they changed something. I've been putting the lid back on the hardener can ( of course ) and then putting the whole can in a zip lock bag. Haven't had any get ruined yet since doing this.

Same problem here........ Devcon appears to have a limited shelf life even if stored properly (cool, dry place). Before I buy again I'll contact Devcon to determine how to interpret their Lot numbers for Mfg. date. No sense accepting a new order of the stuff if the shelf life is already half expired..................... Just used the last of mine and epoxy required heating to mix properly. Hardener was also a little stiff & required extra effort to mix. So far, no problems with bedding.

Mine was stiff and the Hardener was chunky.. Mixing took longer and the putty took longer to harden to start with then usual.. The morning after when I broke it apart I was happy with the outcome but I tossed the remaining Devcon out because it made me to nervous..

I checked Ebay and some other places for just the hardener and couldn't find it sold that way..The stuff is getting pretty costly to just do one job, I would send it out for someone else to have the headache at $50-60 a shot of Devcon.. I was hoping to get 3-4 0r 5 bedding jobs from the container not 2..

Use a hair dryer to warm it up and it will mix better and it will even flow better when you do your bedding job. I learned the trick of using a hair dryer to heat the devcon and the barreled action so it is like soft peanut butter and will come out with no air pockets what ever.

Myself and 2 other local people have noticed the hardener drying out fast in the latest batch.
