Devcon plastic steel epoxy?

Compare the 2500psi to what the 10110 puts out and youll be able to make a better decision
If the 2500 is compressive strength, yeah, 10110 is 8000 psi.
I couldn’t get the specs on the epoxy, just wondering- it’s cheap.. ...
ive got a project goin where I’m using marine-Tex for the first time.

Check the shrinkage figures. If they don't list any....there's your answer.
Bedding material isn't a place to cheap out. I mean....how much money are you really going to save versus possibly compromising the result? -Al

jbweld is in the 5200 range at the same price point if you’re looking for cheap and available at ace hardware :)

You’re right. I was just checking with the folks here. I’ve got Marine-Tex, never used it, any tips?
I have used 10110 and the Brownells stuff.

One pack of marine-tex is probably not enough to bed an action. Also, I find that using part of it is difficult due to getting the hardener out of the little vial in a measured amount.
I find the marine tex probably easier to work with and definitively easier to clean up than the devcon 10110 but the devcon is easier to measure and would not be afraid to use either.
If you insist on something local, find an O'Reilly auto parts store and get the big jb weld tubes.

You can have Devcon at your doorstep in less that 24hrs these days with Amazon, it isn't even worth my time to go looking at the stores and settle for an inferior product, time and gas added and you end up paying even more at the store. I also like using Accuglass Gel from Brownells which is also available on Amazon. Its a lot easier to do it right the first time rather than trying to redo a bad bedding job. Unless you have a mill its a pain in the butt to clean out a bad bedding job.

Agreed, I bought the kit, there's enough for three bedding jobs; from Amazon in 24hrs (ok, seems more like 1-2 weeks at today's shipping).

The 10110 putty is easy to work with, doesn't run everywhere, just err on the excessive side of near correct for the release agent.

45 years ago, I bedded quite a few rifles with Devcon plastic steel as well as the putty-type; bought in 1 pound cans. It was OK but, when I discovered that it was degraded by Hoppes #9, I stopped using it. I also used EK-10 for glue-ins but stopped for the same reason. Agraglas (the original liquid stuff) is unaffected by solvents so I prefer that anymore. By the way, Acraglas gel breaks down in the presence of Hoppes as well. I have not used Marine-Tex. I have some Belzona but have not used that eother. WH

I gave up on the Acra-Glass product long ago. For the last 23 years I've been using the Devcon 10110 two part epoxy for bedding barreled actions.
Seems it has a much longer 'shelf-life' than the Acra-Glass or Gel does.

It is a bit difficult to work with but, as long as the mix is right, it is a hard and durable material as well as being a superior glue. The Acra Glas gel was and is, crap! I've used the liquid since 1971. Maybe times have changed and I haven't kept up but, there it is. I have tried other epoxies from time to time but still like Brownell's product. WH

Marine Tex is popular and while it does a good job, I'm not a fan. AcraGlas Gel is great for bedding scope rings....the Nylon in it allows a bit of flex for a small amount of conformity. -Al

I finished the job yesterday with Marine-Tex. It was easy to mix, I used the entire 2 oz package- no measuring . Seemed similar to Devcon 10110.
