determining proper windage and elevation

Seems pretty basic you have a scope that has 1/4 min turruts and every click at 100 yds raises the POI a 1/4in. What happens when you get into 400-600 yards shots. Is there a formula that needs to be figured out or a book with charts, I'd hate to see what you have to do to get a hit at 1000yds.Hope you can send me looking in the right direction.

The easiest way to remember is that MOA corresponds to distance. All things being reletive, 1 MOA at 100 yards is 1 inch.,Please we are trying to keep things simple here)

So 200 yards is 2 inches and so forth.

So at 600 yards 1 MOA equals 6 inches, so if you adjust your sights 1/4 moa, you should in theory, move the impact 1.5 inches

This is the easiest way to figure how much the bullet impact is going to move at a known distance with out having to do a lot of math or formulas. Or better yet.. if you know the distance, just start cutting it in half, so say 300 yards 1 moa is 3 inches, halve that equals 1.5, halve that .75 inches.. which equals 1/4 moa.

I use scopes with 1/8th and 1/16th adjustment, that way you can really zero in on the X. It helps keep you from having to hold off so much.

The MOA does not change one bit with distance, however the distance a MOA covers does! So, at 100 yards 1 MOA is equal to about 1 inch while at 200 yards that same 1 MOA corresponds to 2 inches and at 600 yards the 1 MOA corresponds to 6 inches.

So, the MOA does not change but the distance the adjustment makes is proportional to the distance.

And, as has also been mentioned, if you want more subtle adjustments at longer ranges you will either need to get a scope with finer MOA per click or you have to do a manual holdover.
