Dental implants and shooting

What kind of downtime can I expect after this procedure yesterday? The implant is on the offside cheekbone at the nose. Tooth #10 cracked off at the roots that had a crown with root canal. The root split and had to be surgically removed. Actually it was chiseled out with a hammer due to the apparent 25 years after the root canal the bone hardens at the tooth instead of cushioning it. Or my interpretation of the procedure.
This morning I feel like Choo Choo from Justified connected on the front of my face. Obviously I need to ask my dentist about returning to shooting. I have a followup this morning. But I'm most interested if anyone having this done can shed some light on it. Applesauce and protein drinks are on the menu for a few days anyway.
Shoot straight and make that first shot count. Thanks.

About 22 hrs ago. The thing was screwed into bone.
I went through it a few years ago, and am glad I did. After the bone graft was in place, the waiting game started. Then after the post was placed, another waiting game. By the time it was said and done, it took about 7 months.

My procedure placed the bone at the time of the implant more so to fill in the space since the bone line hadn't retreated much. The next 3 months are for bone growth into and around the implant and grafts. I was just dreading having to wait 3 mths to shoot, maybe not. My implant has the temp crown already screwed to in while the bone grows.

Mine actually healed fairly quickly, thus the 7 month total period. It could have taken as much as 12 months total.

Edit: Absorb the advice that Dr. Ardoin might have shared with you.

and cadaver bone was used to fill in the voids.

#10 is an incisor as you know. Cadaver bone is commonly used. Did you ask who the manufacturer of the post was? (just wondering....Nobel (the dynamite folks) are top of the line.
More importantly.....do you smoke? This will be key to the healing time. (Smoking greatly lengthens healing time of bones)
And probably more importantly still, what is the cartridge that you shoot with the most recoil?
And what the dental surgeon says is all that counts. The procedure is common BUT every persons health, medical difficulties, etc., are unique to them.

I'll be seeing the dentist at 11am. I've been making a list of questions. The oral surgeon just gave basic hygiene and post operative care. But no, I don't smoke or drink. The .25-06, and 6mm Rem are the ones I was considering for deer season since the .45-70 or .30-06 IMP is out. Mostly though I carry an AR in the truck in 300BLK or 5.56 for swine and yotes. Even though the recoil is minimal there is that jolt of recoil. A .45 auto for snakes and skunks is the norm. I'll stay away from the Contender, the .44 mags and 10mm for now.

I knew I could get some advice, but yes the dentist is the final word.

Thanks all and I'll update after the appt this morning.

ps Immike, I could have saved a few benjamins. darn...

Going through nearly the same thing right now, but tooth #3, right where my cheek contacts the comb of the stock. After more chair time over maybe 20 years than I can count, the tooth was pulled 3 weeks ago and a bone graft placed in prep for an implant. Doc said to wait at least until the stitches and membrane holding it all together came out. That was yesterday and I'm planning on shooting our State LR match this coming weekend with a new to me Palma rifle with the docs blessing.
