Democrats introduce bill to ban online Ammo sales

The White House gave a cool welcome on Monday to Democratic legislation that would effectively ban online or mail-order purchases of ammunition in the aftermath of the mass shooting at an Aurora.

I believe you're mistaken: this is not a "knee jerk" response, because the proponents of this simply wait for a useful excuse to push their agenda of removing our freedom. They are not responding to the evil actions of one person, it's just a preplanned action awaiting an event that they hope will help them push it through: they do a champagne toast that the incident occurs and loudly proclaim it's for our own good as they write the next one.

I would warn people to be very careful about assuming that this will not go anywhere. Nobody thought the healthcare bill would pass. Now look at the mess we have.

I agree. It seems that it's gaining more traction than it should. Bill Oreilly was calling for more gun control a few nights ago. He isn't a conservative, but he isn't known to be a flaming liberal either.

and just how does the healthcare bill affect you? it seems alot of people are quick to find fault even though they arent affected by it; in a good or bad way.

Have plenty of components on hand and dont worry about it

I don't believe that will help the overall cause.

we need to be a united front and not seperated by little bits of "this doesn't affect me so I won't worry about it"

It's a step in the wrong direction and sooner or later it WILL affect you.

I would respectfully submit that the "healthcare bill" affects me and everyone else in the U.S. There are many ways it affects me, but to name only a couple, it has significantly driven up the cost of my health insurance. As of Jan. 1, 2013, it will cost me and all homeowners a 3.8% tax - payable in cash to the Federal Government- to sell my house. This is not the right forum to get into the healthcare bill, and I certainly don't have time to type the plethora of ways in which the healthcare bill will negatively affect me. In this post, let's just stick to the Democrats' desire to remove our 2nd ammendment rights. That is an undisputable fact.

id say never understimate your opponite things are happening at an alarming rate all we need do is set back not vote or oppose and over night well see we better not get lulled into a false sence of security i doubt if the 2nd. ammendment came up for a vote tommorrow it would pass by 1 miserable vote just my thoughts& obversations over the past 67 yrs. regards shooter63

"Conservative" is the most overused word in the political lexicon.

Bill Oreilly would bypass the Constitution at will and never skip a beat... Neo Con shill and really just a real POS...

I was discussing this issue with a friend of mine last nigh whom is not a shooter...What alot of people dont see..and dont understand is that when the goverment passes laws on these issues..the attempt is to take away the 2nd Addmen. rights slowly...of course they are not barging in to our homes to take guns away from our hands...that would be stupid of them...but they will try to slowly pass laws that will cause law abiding gun owners to basicaly give up their guns instead of fighting thru all the red tape to own one...want an example..

goverment passes law that everyone that owns a firearm must register it...they make the registration process take 10yrs. and the fee is several thousands of dollars...ok so only a few will do it..but heres the kicker...in the mean time if you get caught with a firearm that is not registered you face 40yrs. in prison and a $100,000 fine....now who is going to take the risk of having a gun not registered...

so they basically make you decide that you are going to give up firearms because it is a huge wait and hassel to register one on top of the fees

a. Obama has expressed over and over that he is in favor of gun control.
b. Obama is realizing he will not be re elected no matter what dirty tricks he uses.

Follow this thought trail:

1. Colorado shooting.
2. Supreme Court Justice announces gun control issues may be allowed.
3. US Government gearing up for civil unrest.
4. Obama considering internet ban on ammo sales (remember the gay marriage issue he was "exploring").
5. Next expect Obama to issue an Executive Order again bypassing Congress re instituting the "assault weapons" ban and ammo sales. 6. Congress continues to sit on their behinds and makes no move to reverse this order.
7. Law abiding citizens protest this infringement.
8. Martial law is declared and election is suspended until "civil unrest is restored".
9. Obama remains "Emperor".

I rather think that this is a minority opinion on this forum and the whole mess belongs somewhere else. Why can't we stick to the issue of gun control? Perhaps because there is no denying that the party of your favor would bypass the constitution in a heartbeat for more and more gun control? The facts prove over and over that there is less violence where the citizenry is armed. But then again, a lib never lets facts get in the way of feelings. Try comparing the gun violence rate in Switzerland, where every household is required to have an automatic weapon, with places like DC and Chicago that have our Nation's most stringent gun laws. Oh right, facts and feelings. The truth is that a government that fears an armed society, is a government to be feared.

One of the biggest problems also...there are no consequences for peoples actions anymore...this kid that shot all the people at colorado...trial and then hang him on the courthouse lawn and invite everyone to see...and televise it...

instead...he kills people...yet his trail and sentencing will just get him life in prison....those innocent people get death and he gets life..thats how our goverment sees things today...its completly backwards...
And law abidding gun owners get the punishment for his actions..
I got to get off my soap box...all my friends are tired of hearing me rant and rave about this...

Not that I believe it blindly, here's some news of perhaps a little more rational approach to the legislation's future:

http://m.cnn.com/primary/wk_article?articleId=urn:newsml:CNN.com:20120730:congress-democrats-gun-control:1&branding=election.2012&category=cnnd_politics&pagesize=10

There's fear-mongering on both sides of the aisle in DC, nothing new. Problem is the D's are more rabid & vocal when it comes to issues that have to do with "the greater good." Remember it was Carter who wanted folks unable to pay their mortgage to have a home, Clinton who wanted to ban "assault weapons" (how many of us really have full-blown M4's anyway?).

The recent tragedy in Aurora hurt lots of folks besides those who were there. My heart goes out to the victims & their families, no different than when I read reports of innocent folks killed by drunk drivers. We tried banning alcohol & got nowhere. Still trying to ban drugs & only billion-dollar gangs to show for it after 40 years. Much of what comes out of DC is non-sense IMHO.

But stay vigilant! The misdeeds of a few will ALWAYS be used as an excuse to take away the priviledges the rest enjoy unless we make our position 100% clear.
