Defiance Deviant & 6 Dasher

Hello,
Are their any issues with the Defiance Machine Deviant receiver running a 6 Dasher repeater? Issues as far as extraction and ejection? The receiver has A/W cut but will be using AICS with mag insert kit to run the 6 Dasher brass. Looking forward to hearing the information. Thanks ahead of time. Happy Thanksgiving!

had zero function troubles running that same setup with un modified extractor and plain old magpul mags. sponsor gun for lgs. btw, the rig shot a three group teen agg. at 200 while testing r-16 and 108 bergers.
thanks

yes still have the same ejection issues as a rem 700. i found bout the only good ejection action is ones with the kind like winchester bolts where you pull bolt all the way back to the bolt stop and ejector.
I have a defiance action with a 6mm dasher barrel and the ejection is not reliable. It ejects sometimes sometimes not.

My Deviant has run flawlessly. AW cut and I’ve been running plain AICS or ARC mags. Maybe I got lucky but no issues whatsoever.

I talked with Norm at Defiance Machine and he said there should be no problem. Thanks for the response MTSLW. The more one researched the more it seems like a gunsmith with the Dasher experience is the determining factor perhaps?

Not really a gunsmith issue, just need to be prepared to adjust mag feed lips etc when you're running a Dasher. I know many guys who are running a Dasher in a Defiance action. I believe some are using mag kits like the primal rights AICS insert, another is using AW mags with a rear spacer.

I plan on running the AICS with the Primal Rights kit in them. I am hesitant on the ARC mags. I ran a 6 Creedmoor for the 2017 local season and got the ARC at the end of the season. I got two of them. Opened one and filled it with 10 rds. ran the bolt three times which worked ok, had a hang up, and then it was locked up. I pulled the mag and found the last 5 rounds or so all nose dipped and the top two rounds pushed forward where there would want to feed. This was on a 591 action in XLR chassis. So I boxed the opened one up and got rid of both of them. That was my experience. BUT...for the dasher now, I hear guys running them with good luck. So who knows.
I agree, the slight mag modification of flaring the front of the lips as well as polishing up the lips will be of benefit when running AICS with the inserts.
Thanks for the response.

I have many dashers and BRAs running out of mag fed rifles. There should be no problem with center feed mags. Some are using the spacer kit others are not. If your having ejection issues look at your extractor. If a clipped mini 16 is installed replace it with an un-clipped extractor and you should be good. Clipped extractors allow a lower ejection angle, we want a high ejection angle for short cases like the dasher.

The Defiance does come standard with Mini 16 extractor. However, if it is clipped or un-clipped I do not know. Thanks for the insight Alex Wheeler.

Mine is built on our Rogue action, which is made for us by Defiance and based on the Rebel. I've ran just over a thousand rounds out of it so far out of unmodified AICS mags and it's worked flawlessly. Honestly, the best combination I've come across has been this action with the ARC mags.......super smooth!

Mine is AW cut and I have had it working with AW, AICS with spacer, un modified ARC and modified ARC. Sometimes a fix for the ARC and Dashers is to use an AICS follower. AW fit really loose in my bottom metal and wouldn’t even feed 6.5x47 until I stuck enough stock tape on the front of the mag for a snug fit, then it feeds everything fine.

I had a Defiance without AW cut. I couldn’t use AICS with spacer because with the spacer the COAL was long enough it would get hung up on the bottom of the feed ramp.

As far as extraction, I never had any issues with 3 different actions other than I trimmed the ejector spring quite a bit. It was hard on case mouths and the race ways seemed to almost pinch the case enough to bind up when pulling the bolt back.
