Decorah Iowa Eagle Cam

Some years ago I spent several years caring for the folks in Wisconsin and these Decorah nests were on a computer in the living room non stop.
I especially enjoyed watching the adults bring in the fish and
the young uns reactions.
Thanks for reminding and reacquainting me to this.
Gonna get and set up the spare computer now…

That tree blew down. It was close to the fish hatchery....how handy. There was a documentary about the community rebuilding the nest in another tree I believe. That eagle cam was much better.

When I was still a working man, part of my job was to travel to various industrial facilities to plan piping and mechanical retrofit work.

At one particular plant, a pair of Ospreys decided to build a nest on one of the tanks in the tank farm adjacent to the river. Made sense for the birds, but not so much for the plant. After consulting with some experts, the plant installed a wooden utility pole and platform setup adjacent to the tank farm and closer to the river. They had some people come in who moved the nest to the new location. The ospreys took up residence on that platform, eggs were laid and the young were successfully reared. The following year, the pair returned and used that platform again. That pattern repeated over the years. I have not been there is about 8 years now, but I would like to think it is still being used. Whenever I was at that plant, I always took a side trip during my work day to go see what was happening.

Out in Idaho at my son's we often fished the S Fork of the Boise River. Near where we would start was an Osprey nest. That thing was immense. Year after year always there and getting bigger. First time my wife hooked a big trout there she kept saying I'm snagged on the bottem, lol. Then she found out. Great country, all most moved but no formal shooting anywhere, stayed in Pa and am good with our choice.

I have a group that nest 1/2 a mile up the road from my place. The neighbors have hog-confinement buildings and occasionally dump carcasses behind it. The eagles love pork!

The neighbor's cousin is a thermal hunter and has taken his fair share of coyotes behind the buildings as well.
