DEC 7th dogs.

Popped a double this morn that came in from 800+ yards out from a group of 3.
3 rd one split off on a 2 track on its own. The other 2 took a bit coming in trotting then walking, stopping and then commited 100% on a fast walk.
The female came in 50 yds ahead of ol male & I dropped her at 70 yards when she came over the rise and stopped at the edge below where I was sitting looking for the sound, just as she dropped the male come up over the rise, saw her drop, turned for a nice broadside shot and he stayed as well, about 3 seconds total. Had I not been suppressed he would of been gone. He was in the dip when I dropped her so I feel he didn't connect the ssswissh to a regular gun shot.
Nice furred up ol big male and an mangy small female.
About an hour later and 2 miles later we walked out a bit further into a spot we have called many times, but not as far in. This time were are set up above a giant CRP field and about 6 min into calling we spot one at 600 yards dinking around. It finally comes down wind to my side again. About 15 min into it taking its time I follow it as its getting to my point of bust where it will get my scent. It finally gets to an opening in the 3-5' tall grasses that Im able to drop it.
Now that's done it did take 20 min to find here in that tall stuff.
My Savage build, 6x45, 65g vmax load, suppressed.

Nice dogs. I hunted this morning with nothing cooperating. Gotta love the 6x45. Mine is one of my favorite rifles on a small Sako.

#1. You are consistently good.

#2. Where's all that sub-zero, high wind, deep snow I expected to see?

May you continue your success and the weather gods smile on you.

Thanks.
No snow here and its almost Christmas & making it hard for calling as they still have tons to eat & are not picky. Heck even grass hoppers are still found out here.

So solly to hear dat, "Grasshopper".

Winter will soon come and you will long for the warmer times.

Keep up the fun hunting and bring on more stories.
