dasher FL bushing die Whidden or custom reamed ?

I've always used custom FL sizing dies with a neck bushing,( made by B Green) I going to buy a dasher reamer and wondering if I should also buy the sizing reamer with it. I was looking at the (generic)) FL bushing dies available say from Whidden, or Forster. Would they suffice or should I ream a Newlon blank to get a better product. Buying a generic die would be easiest and cheaper, I'm only interested in generic FL sizing dies with neck bushings....is there other ones out there I do not know about ? Do they under size too much?
Or is buying a sizing and chamber reamer set my best bet and make one from a Newlon blank?
Is the Newlon blank reamed out for the nk bushing or do I have to do that?

I have never owned a "custom" die set. However, for my Dashers, I use the Whidden die set. I have 2 dies, a F/L die honed to .266 and a F/L bushing die. I have found the .266 to be perfect. However, you never know when you will need the bushing die. My Dashers shoot pretty dang well.. Would they shoot better with a custom? I don't know. However, there is not much room for A LOT better, I can tell you that..

Ben..I ve never done the two die step method. Except with Wilson. I've always thought 1 die does all is a quicker method....am I missing something?

No not really... I like how the "regular" dies sizes as opposed to the bushing die. I could have ordered 3 "honed" F/L dies but 1 non-bushing and 1 bushing will suffice. I do not often use the bushing die. However, if 1 shot better with the .266 and the other shot better with a .265 or .264, I could employ it at the drop of a hat. However, so far, the honed out .266 does one heckuva job..

I would be scared to order a certain neck size then find out after the fact it was too big or small, thats why I think interchangeable bushings would be best for me.

I have no complaint with that at all.. It is a personal preference deal about sizing all of the neck as opposed to most of the neck. I doubt it makes any diff, however, we all do what WE think works for us..

Checkout Harrell's Precision. Hard to beat for $75 plus he will send you a free bump gauge.

I also have the Whidden FL Bushing die set. However I am going to warn you now, once you buy one set of Whidden dies, you will be buying more.

I will call Whidden and Harrells and probably get the one that ships quickest. Thanks 22 and Mad for advising me on my alternatives.

If you go with Harrells, you will need to wait until your barrel is chambered and send him a couple of pieces of twice fired unsized brass so he can properly fit the die to your chamber.

Do you get any runout on the Whidden bushing die? Or how does it do compared to the FL for runout?
