Dasher DTAC and 105 Hybrid freebore

Been shooting a 6 Dasher for a few years in tactical competitions with the 105 hybrid being really the only bullet I've shot. Got a new barrel being spun up soon (proof ss 7.5t) and would like to give the 115 rbt dtac a try. I'm looking for recommendations on freebore to use with the dtac but still work with the hybrids if I choose to stick with the bergers. Also, I've been debating giving the BRA a try but I'd really like to give the DTACs a solid run and I'm not sure about them in the BRA.

You could go a fair bit longer with the DTAC's. Somewhere around .135 freebore is a number I hear from a lot of other guys running DTAC/Dasher. DTAC's in my .104 pushes the neck/shoulder junction down a bit into the case. DTAC's are a longer bullet but most of that length is bearing surface or boattail. My OAL with 105 Hybrids is actually longer than the DTAC's when both are seated to the same distance off the lands.

I would just shoot them with the 104 and see what they do.

That is what I am going to do in my 6bra (which is not a a Dasher I know). Tubb uses 140 in the 6xc but that is the only bullet he shoots too.

My best success with 115-DTAC came with long throated 6Dasher's of +.135-FB and longer, with .160" being my favorite free-bore length for the 115-DTAC seated into the lands/rifling.

From a .104-FB barrel that I tried them in, had early pressure issues and poorer accuracy. Later, throated that barrel out to .155-FB which greatly improved upon the pressure issues and accuracy (basically night & day difference).

I agree with dmoran, but yall probably run magazines and oal is a factor. I had Heriksen grind my Dasher for 115's where the bearing surface stayed in the sized portion of the neck and it was a .203" freebore. Won a score match at 1000 with that setup. My very first 1000 yd match.

The archives here are full of excellent information on freebore in the 6br and it's variants. Most bullets from 105-115 class weights.

Thanks for the replies guys, I've searched a lot on these forums and snipershide. This place has always been a great source of reloading info for me, and it's the main reason my 2 go to guns are a dasher and straight 284.

From what I've read most dtac shooters go long, like 150+ but I didnt want to go to long and not be able to shoot hybrids if I didnt like the dtacs.
