Well known Benchrest competitor Dan Hackett passed away from complications following emergent surgery to repair an extensive aortic aneurysm. As per Dan's wishes, the family had a small private memorial service. Our thoughts and prayers are with Patricia, son Colin and all of Dan's family and friends.
When I first started shooting Benchrest, it was at the old Mason City, Iowa club where Dan was a regular. He gave freely of his time and advice, all the while spicing it with his own very special brand of humor and wit.
Dan was well known in the Benchrest community. He was a Staff Writer for Precision Shooting Magazine for several years and authored a section for Sinclair's Precision Handloading manual as well as many other articles in various publications.
It was my pleasure to have known him. -Al
