Damage while hydro forming dasher brass from Lapua 6br

If you look at the word Lapua you can see the bent lip on the case head above the pua, I checked all the other cases and found maybe 10 out of 100 with this same bend….

Any ideas?

Yes me, no not first time I went back and checked my other 100 and they seem fine though to be honest I have fired the 3 times, not sure if I just didn’t notice it and firing flattened them out???????

My guess, though I have never tried any hydro form die, is there was a misalignment that caused the rims to be damaged by the shell holder during the process.
DJ's Brass does all my hydro forming and the brass is "match-ready" when it comes to me.

Thought he was out of business

If I was a guessing man, it appears that you might be using a standard shell holder while forming. Can’t use standard shell holders with the priming hole or the rim will try form to the recessed cut in the holder.

What brand of forming die are you using?

Whidden forming dies come with solid flat bottom holders specifically designed for the task. See photo below of Whidden forming die shell holder vs standard holder. The recess that my pen is pointing at on the standard holder is probably right where the rim is bending during forming if you are using a standard holder. With the Whidden holder, the entire rim and face is fully supported. If that’s not what’s going on, then I’m a little stumped like everyone else.

And yes, firing the cases will flatten it back out so probably only noticeable if checked before firing.
