Daily Bulletin- Drop Port

If i was a rabbit i would think a carrot was hanging in front of my nose after reading the Daily Bulletin about the Viper Drop Port. The waiting list to get one of these built is over 3 years old. Is there some light at the end of the tunnel?

You should call Stiller at ViperActions.com . The viper waiting list is long to be sure, but last year Jason Baney was able to snag a drop port diamondback with no wait because that was a cancelled special order. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Lonnie, My BAT Drop Port model M should be done in less than a month for my Heavy Gun, I will let you know how it turns out.

Defiance and Bat make drop-port actions.....

On another note, seen others as well as myself have issues with the "chute" design hanging an occasional spent brass, in the stock.
A few of use went to a straight through square drops and fixed the issue, and is what I suggest/recommend to future drop-port builders.

Donovan -- good point about BAT and Defiance. Also, FYI, the Stiller drop-port funnel is now made from a slick polymer. This could possibly improve the function (previous funnel was aluminum). But I've never had a single problem with any drop-port gun I've tried. I consider drop-ports more reliable than a Left Loading port and right reduced-size ejection port. On the Drop-Port, Gravity does all the work.

I have a Viper SS Drop Port in 6BR with aluminum funnel and have no ejection issues. Perhaps the stock builder did not follow Stiller's recommendations. [br]
Drop port actions are outstanding. My competition actions generally do not have ejectors but, as the article notes, Drop Ports give the best of both.

Thats my point here Tom. Will we ever see a new Viper Drop port again?

Keep calling. Maybe someone who ordered three years ago died waiting..... ::)

When I bought my Viper SS, I called on 26 March, 2010, spoke to Russ and told him I'd like to buy a RBLP Viper SS. He said that it would be at least two years before they made any more but they had one (1) RBRP in stock. I bought it and shipped them two Bartlein HV 6mm barrels and my 6BR reamer. Never regretted the move and the little 6BR has been a barn burner at Mid Range ever since. Russ also told me that they make about the same profit on standard actions as they do the Viper SS and it takes three times the machine time. That's kind of a no brainer if you have any other business.

When I got mine the chute would hang a Dasher case.
I took a small file and filed the front and rear of the case
to make a little more room for it to drop through. Never
failed since after a couple of thousand rounds.

RBRP, RBLP, dual port none are fool proof so don't be so hard on the
droport.

If anyone ever trys to take our guns away my
Diamondback Drop Port will be the last of my match
rifles to leave my 'dead hands'!!!!

I picked up a lightly used VDP. It arrived the week before X-Mas. Santa must've known how GOOD I've been ;D

BTW, There's a a Used VDP in 6 PPC Smithed by Billy Stevens for sale on BRC for $1695

Russ at Stiller's claims the ppc bolt face can't be converted to a 308 drop port with out a great deal of expense. Passed up several already. They would get bought up in a hurry if they could be.
