CZ Discontinued the 527 Rifle

First the 452, followed by the 453 and 455 in rimfire.
The 550 has been away for a while; replaced by the 557.
Are we shocked that the 527 is seemingly taking a hit?
No.
The evolution from BRNO rimfire to today's 457 is a giant leap.
I expect the move from 527 to 600 will be positive in some ways but not in others, as the new 600 is being advertised as "economical".

The 527’s demise is certainly swirling through rumor mill. It would be a sad day if that rifle were to disappear and would, in my opinion, signal CZ’s caving in to the Wal Mart mentality.

CZ's centerline offerings suffered from a lack of support. Scope bases were unique, and aftermarket triggers were nowhere to be found. Barrel swaps that make others so flexible were impossible without dedicated tooling.

It is weird they just trash it all (550, 557, and 527), but I guess they wanted a clean slate.

Hope they do well, though I think they will find their chambering and barrel lengths are not up to snuff. Do they really think a 20" barrel in a 30-06 is what people want? I'd just buy a 308.

Yes- it seems that they are now driven by the marketing dept at CZUSA, rather than their somewhat quirky European designs. The 600 look interesting though - I'm trying to get a loan of the "Range" model for a play - and the "Trail" with it's collapsing stock looks like fun ( if it's your thing - not mine). The barrel lengths and twists are a bit odd though. 6 Creed 1-7, 308- 1/10 - fine, 223 1/9.

Had looked for a 527 in 6.5 Grendel for quite a while. Now I know why they were not to be found. Decided a 6 BR would be an easier choice.

I really like my CZ 550s and 527s. They are the only guns that I own that I’ve been happy with out of the box with no upgrades like I end up doing to everything else. I’m really sad to see them go. I might just try to snag another 527 or two before they become impossible to find. If I could find it, I wouldn’t mind having another 550 in 30-06 to go with my 243 and 22-250.

This news has been broadcast far and wide. I've currently got two 527's. Both in 223, one FS with a 1/12 twist barrel and one MTR with a 1/9 twist. Both shoot well. I use the MTR with 69 grain pills as a mid range FTR gun but I rarely shoot that discipline except for fun these days. It'll holds it's own. The FS is special. I love full length stock guns. That gun will shoot 52 grain bullets into very small groups. More of a petting gun than a shooting gun these days but it is fun to pet. Would like to grab a 550 in 6.5x55 before they all end up at the back of peoples safes. It would compliment the 9.3x62 I've got.

I lament the passing of these classics but I do have a 457 (last in line of the 452 and 455) that I like and 557 (replaces the 550) that I also like. Both also in the MTR stock configuration. Always new and fun toys to play with.

Has been on several forum posts, and also news releases, for a month or so.
Time will tell if the new 600 series will hold up/sell or they bring the 527's back.

I have a 452 and a 455, they are not exactly old but have been replaced by the 547. The 457 from what i have seen is just as good as the as the 452 or the 455. CZ is all about quality i don't think you have anything to worry about. I am guessing but my thoughts would be they are designing them to be built more efficiently on modern machining centers.

I often wondered why they just didn't drill and tap for a rail that we could buy anywhere. That business of having to get an adapter to mount a rail was not clever on their part. On the other hand my 527 Hornet came with a set trigger. Never see that on a Rem or Sav.
