CZ-550 in 308 Winchester

Looking at a CZ 550 in 308 Winchester-- does anyone have one of these how does it shoot?? --What type of rings did you use for the scope? What changes if any were made to the factory rifle?/ Any Issues??

Thanks in advance for the info

I own a CZ550 in the 6.5X55 Swede. I bought it used, but it was very near new at the time. It came with the scope rings. The only print on the rings is 'australia'. Hmm.. I have no idea who makes them. The action seemed really rough so I used rubbing compound on the slides and bolt, which really improved it. I did not lapp the locking lugs. It is one of the best hunting rifles I have owned in terms of accuracy. It is a 1/2MOA gun. I'm guessing the .308 would be a great shooter also. The walnut on mine is phenominal,,it's gorgeous.

The gun I am looking at has been in my buddy's shop for over two years so it show the wear of in and out of the safe for two years-- so the stock is a little dinged and the bolt has some marks on the knob there is also a worn spot on the barrel where it set in the gun rack -- however it is new and unfired and I think I can get a pretty good deal on it-- roughly $200 less than what a new one costs now.

I am told the barrels are hand lapped--I like the adj.-set trigger-- stock on this one is pretty nice--need some light work to be free floated.

I plan to hunt with the gun so the dings do not bother me --"much"--it would be better if it was still perfect

for what its worth i have a CZ 527 in .222 (as do a couple of friends) and i love it!! :D i also have a sako 75 varmint and the pencil thin barreld CZ is only just behind using hunting projectiles. 5 shots around the 1/2" is the norm. mine came with rings but dont know if they have australia stamped on them . . . and i live in australia!!

long whine. i got a cz550 308 varmit walnut stock at a show for a good price, determined it was unfired, couldn't sell it for what i wanted, got frustrated and shot it anyway. now it stays. .5 MOA with ultramax 168 match,FGM 168 match,150gr horn sst. yes the barrels are supposed to be lapped. i can only say,if the price is right-buy it. did have a cz varmit 22 that was disappointing. but, this one is a peach.

I have a CZ 527 and got the Warne rings. Very good stuff, glad I went with them. They make them for the 550 as well, I imagine the quality is the same.

I've got a CZ 550 FS in 6.5x55 on order (about 8 weeks out) and I plan on using Talley rings on it. I know they make them for the 550 models, not sure about the others.
