CZ 457 Varmit At-one or Ruger precision rimfire?

What one would be more accurate for long distance shooting for a 22LR? Up to 500yds if thats possible? I'd love a vudoo, but they are out of my price range. Or you think the new Bergara .22 coming out would be the best choice? I want a tack driver out to 100/200yds, but would like to show off and hit the gong at 500.

Well, you will have to do some work on the Ruger precision rim fire. I needed to put a new aftermarket barrel on mine then finally got consistent precision.

I had a CZ 457 MTR. Best I could get out of it was 0.375" at 50 yards. I tried a dozen different "high end" ammos. Settled on Midas + I mighta got a stinker, I dunno. I was less than impressed. When I found out CZ only guarantees 15mm (5/8") I gave up trying.

My 455 was a bit better.... an occasional 0.25" Often larger.

Ended up puting a Lilja 16" bbl on the 457 and now get pretty consisent 0.30" c-t-c groups at 50 yd, with some flyers. Its for sale (repalced by a Vudoo)

The new Bergara looks interesting. Its Rem 700 SA compatible platform,so that opens up trigger options. I'd guess you'll be waiting a wile for one to come available.

At $1,150 its outside the new ARA "factory" class.

I'm not worried about ARA factory class. I don't plan shooting competition other then with friends at the range.

What Vudoo did you go with?

I had the ruger american target, which is not the rpr model but it did have the same heavy barrel. I bedded it, ran the trigger down polished everything had the trigger breaking just under 1lb I ran every brand of ammo through it and the best groups I could get at 25 yards hovered around 1/2” opened up to 5/8 to 3/7” at 50 and I never shot it at 100 because it was so loose at 25 and 50. I bedded the action in devcon, had a nice solid foundation pillared the action screws, I even rebedded a portion in front of the barrel. It never changed a thing from straight out of the box it was mediocre at best and even after all of the work and tinkering it still was mediocre.

I thought about swapping it for the chassis style one but I think it was just such a project that I was done..

lots of folks have great luck with all of the CZ line and I have seen these tika shoot circles around the ruger.

my opinion is the ruger is a good gun functionality wise and it shots fair, good for a kiddo, or a casual shooter, but the cz and tile have real potential to respond to all of the things we do to gain the perfect accuracy.

totally my opinion, and experience and I own several rugers and will continue to buy them..

good luck with whatever you decide!

I have a Ruger Precision Rimfire that is completely stock, I shoot sub MOA at 50 yards most of the time. With that being said I'm going to purchase a CZ 457 MRT to shoot in the new ARA Factory Class. I feel like the CZ will be more consistent than the RPRR but for the price you can't beat the RPRR.

I'm want this new precision CZ rifle that coming out in 2020! Since I don't know the price or date when its come out. I'll probably buy the ATONE to play with until more info comes out.
