CZ 455 17 HMR …. Sources for VARMIT barrels?

Does anybody know any/good sources for the CZ 455 VARMIT (heavy) 17 HMR barrels ? Or know any one with a new one? Can’t seem to find or locate any. Please post or PM me.

I'm having one made up right now from Lothar Walther.

The barrel Lothar Walther is making for me will have a straight tube 19" tube with a diameter of .9 and the tenon will not have cut out for the grub screws. The barrel will be held in place with Loctite 601 or 609, forget which one it is right now. It will be a tight fit barrel to the receiver. Shims on the tenon will adjust the head spacing as needed. I expect very good accuracy with the final product.

I used a drop in barrel made by Lilja for my CZ 457 to make it into a 17 HM2. Lilja also makes 17 HMR barrels.

Put one of Lilja's drop in 17 HMR barrels on a Ruger M77/22mag that I made in to a 17HMR and it turned out really well and shoots good. I have numerous Lilja CF barrels and they've always shot very well.

I agree with Tmwinds. I have 3 457 American varmint rifles. One was a 22lr when purchased. The first one I bought was purchased as a 17 HMR. I started shooting it and testing different ammo. I wasn’t impressed by how it was shooting. But I didn’t like the “heavy” trigger. I shoot a bunch of 2oz jewel triggers. There’s nothing wrong with the cz factory triggers. Just me not liking heavy triggers. So I ordered up a timney that day and then my head gets spinning and ordered up a Lilja 17 HMR barrel the next day. I get home Saturday night and the timney is there but no Lilja. So what the heck. I installed the timney and go test more ammo. The gun instantly is shooting better groups. Well I find the ammo it likes best and get the scope zeroed and it’s shooting great. I get home the next Saturday and wouldn’t you know it, the nice shiney Lilja is sitting there. Well like the rest of us gun folks do I had to swap it asap and test it. Hoping it was worth what I paid for it. Well it didn’t blow my mind vs the factory barrel but 1/8” is an 1/8”. Nice thing was both the cz and the Lilja liked the same ammo. So I leave the Lilja on the gun. As I’m working through the weeks it eats at me that I’ve got a good shooting barrel in the closet. Well the I ordered another cz 457 American varmint it 17 HMR. I get it and the first thing I do is take off that barrel and install the first factory 17 HMR barrel. Reason being is it shot great with the same ammo as the Lilja. So I have a new issue. Not enough scopes. I walk through fleet farm and see a nice vortex. For $400 list price is $499. I grab it for one of the cz 457 rifles. I get it home and fall in love with it. Great scope at its price point. I go back to fleet to see if they have any more. Guy says no. We weren’t supposed to have that one. I said why is that? He said it went to the wrong fleet farm. So I call the area fleet farm stores and the next town had 2 of them. So I head there to buy them both. As I’m waiting for the department clerk to assist with scopes I noticed a cz 457 American varmint sitting there. It was just a 22lr. So I buy that also. Get it home and swap out 22 barrel for the other unfired 17 HMR barrel. All my cz 457 rifles have timney triggers. One with Lilja barrel dies shoot slightly better then the factory barrels but ever so slightly. Nice thing is they all favor the same ammunition. These cz rifles shoot very well and the fit and finish is great. Lilja dies shoot slightly better but idk if it worth the extra cost over factory. I’d recommend calling cz and seeing if you can buy a barrel directly from them.
