CVA Long Range Hunter

My neighbor wants to buy a rifle and asked me for a recommendation - I immediately said Tikka. But, he's an internet researcher kind of guy who thinks youtube videos and AI gives definitive information. Today he asked me about the CVA Long Range Hunter (CVA Long Range Hunter). Available information indicates they source their barrels from Bergara. He doesn't shoot much and it will be used mainly to hunt deer in here in the south.

Since I don't really trust artificial information or youtube for reliable information, I figured I would ask the people here on Accurate Shooter that I know I can trust.

I have done some load development on a couple of them here lately. They seem to shoot pretty good overall. They were easily sub moa rifles, and after getting loads tuned in they were half moa or just a touch over. I found them to be a fairly nice rifle at the price point. Very similar in fit and feel to a Bergara in general.

Thanks Stomp for sharing your experience. My friend is one who asks for suggestions and then doesn't listen, but since we've know each other for almost 40 years, I try to be helpful.

Steve, you are correct. But since he has grandchildren who like to hunt, I wanted to steer him towards something nice to be passed down. He is very well off and a nice rifle and scope is not a stretch for him. So I am going to pass along the information Stomp passed to me and then make myself scarce.

That is why i said personal preference and budget should make the choice simple. If he can afford it and has kids to pass it on to, much better quality guns certainly makes sense. ;)

I would have suggested a Tikka as well. However, if he likes the Bergara barrels, why not just buy a Bergara B14-HMR for the same money? It is 100% Rem 700 compatible.
