Cutting Edge Bullets

Anyone familar with Cutting Edge bullets. Ran across them at the NRA Convention in Pittsburgh. They are a high BC all copper bullet that has a "seal tight band". Don't understand purpose of the band and concerned on the potential effect on barrel wear. Quite pricey but sounds like a great long range hunting bullet.

I have been trying some of these bullets but the jury is still out. So far, no great success. Not sure if my problem is not enough free-bore or something else. Going to give them another try next week; weather permitting.

Blue-Eyed Bear--Let me know your results and any secrets if you get them to work. I invested $61 in a box of 6.5 130 grainer's but have been hesitant to shoot them. Will hold off until you guys on the forum convince me the seal tight band won't damage the barrel.

Just this last time out I thought I may have a scope, barrel, or some other kind of problem since I could not get the cutting edge bullets to group. So after 51 riounds of the CE bullets I fired 5 108gr Bergers. results, one ragged hole. If the CE bullets causes barrel problems, the Berger did not recognize it.

Bringing this grey haired thread back to life. Any meaningful
updates after 10 years ?? A box of 50 130gr 7mm came to me
and will test them In about a week after fire forming another
batch of my .284-ELF cat brass. Bullet, tax, and shipping puts
this bullet at $1.53 each. A little bit of an ouch indeed, but for
my purposes, and lack of custom bullets in the 7mm arena, it's
worth the effort. Going to be contacting Warner Tool, and see
what I can come up there. It's only money......

Fuj,
On their website is some information on how to best seat them.
As with most mono's, they like a jump.
IF i can ever get off work on Fridays, like i'm supposed to be, i can swing by Cutting Edge & pick the bullets you want up for ya.
Saves on the shipping charge.
They are only about 3 miles off of I80 at the Kylertown exit.

Watch the recommended twist rates!

started shooting them back in 2013/2014 .loaded them for 338 win.mag and 270 win. was impressed and good results. just switched over to hammer bullet company .all copper . will never look back. great performance and found my pet load.both rifles were shooting under 1moa. at 100 yds .now less than 1/2. check them out. lots of good help on loading them on there sight. john

They're light for their length, and you might think of trying a powder based on weight. I went the opposite in my 7-08, and went with a much slower powder (4350 vs RL15). Wound up with 1/4" groupings at 200. These were Lehigh bullets. I have the Cutting Edge for my 338 and 6.5, but haven't tried them yet.

Those that don't follow ELR competitions probably won't see as many mentions of the Cutting Edge bullets or the Lehigh Defense. The Warner Flatlines get some press but again, not very much outside of ELR.

Some of the top ELR shooters will only shoot the Cutting Edge Lazers (tipped). I've tried the 375s and some of the 416s but I'm not impressed just yet. At $2.00 -$3.00/ each, a practice session can get pretty expensive when compared to cup and core. Even the A-Tips aren't quite up to those prices. ;)

The Warners are very consistent and Alan and Dan are great to work with.

All three companies have excellent customer service skills and are very knowledgeable so if you find you have a question(s) after looking at the websites, give them a call.

Obviously the OP doesn't have the experience or knowledge about solid bullets made of copper. But he's been gone for quite a while so I doubt it makes any difference.

I'll probably start a whole new thread once I look over some of my
chamber castings. Initial looks at the seal band on the Cutting Edge
bullets has me concerned. I'll get a few numbers and post em' up.
Until then......
