Cutting barrel channel

Would it be a problem to cut a barrel channel with a router. Im looking at a stock inletted for action but no barrel channel.

if you are really fimiliar with uing a router, i would think that it would be okay. is it a hand-held, or table router? hand held would not be as stable, and with a table router, you couldnt see what you were doing. "i am not saying that you should" but.... if taken slowly, maybe? just make sure that you are okay with the fact that if you mess up, you arent going to get very pissed that you just destroyed that stock. brian

Absolutely no problem, especially if you make up a jig so the router won't have any chance of wandering off.
Make the template so the router stays inside of it and you will not mess it up......

I have a handheld router and then a table it fits on also. I would not think about doing it with out a good fence. I just need to see if I have a big bit.
