Custom repeater actions that handle 6mm Dasher with no problems

The Dasher is apparently a good BR cartridge. I would think for repeater action purposes I could find better feeding rounds that would go bang.. Some things are just purpose built and don't fall on every side of the fence..

Getting the BR's to feed correctly in a Remington (or custom clone) can be done but requires that a few issues be addressed, the BR is short and nose heavy, so what normally happens is the round nose dives and gets jammed against the breech end of the barrel, also upon ejection there's very little spring force left in the ejector because the mouth of the case rides in the bolt raceway at such an accute angle (again because of it's short length) so weak ejection is common.

The feed issue requires that the cartridge be center fed, stagger feeding of very short cartridges is un reliable, also the magazine must be moved closer to the chamber so the feed lips release the back of the cartridge at the instant the bullet tip enters the chamber, that's why my R5 system has a minimum COL requirement, if a user wants to use very light bullets (resulting in a shorter that minimum COL) jamms will occur.

Ejection can be fixed by extending the ejector plunger as mentioned above but that can also be the cause of feeding problems, if the ejector protrudes beyond the bolt face the case head can catch on it stopping the cartridge halfway in to the chamber, the better way is to relocate the extractor from the 3:00 position (when viewed from the rear) to the 1:30 position, which is what installation of either a Sako or M16 extractor conversion does, the reason this works is the case mouth is no longer pulled into the right bolt lug way, instead it rides above the lug way and the ejector spring is compressed giving much stronger ejection, this works on the Dasher and BRX as well.

I would e-mail BAT and ask them their thoughts on the caliber and the suitability to their repeater action. They will give you a straight answer. I had one built in 7MM Mag on their magnum repeater action for a hunting rifle and you are getting a bench-rest grade repeater. I plan on a repeater varmint rifle next. Only downside is waiting time (and perhaps price - depending upon budget). Bruno Shooters Supply usually has a few in stock for just a few bucks more.
