Custom reamer or sammi min?

I'm getting ready to send in brass for reamers to jgs.
I'm going to do a 222 reamer. My lapua brass is .021 short wo being trimmed. I'm going to do a custom neck diam and throAt.
But I'm also thinking about leaving the headspace the same but pulling .010 off the neck length to reduce the gap. Any suggestions? It's a live varmint rig.

Are you just sending in brass or a loaded round? I'd be more concerned with freebore and where the bullet will sit relative to the lands.

222 will be loaded.

I'd bet that .021 short dimension will disappear after two firings. Other than that, you're good to go.

I've been down the custom reamer trail twice 30-284 Ackley improved and then I took the body taper out of 257 Roberts Ackley; the head ache of reloading dies is challenging. PTG will work with you, they did excellent work for me on both occasions. Yes removing the body taper improved efficiency in my experience. I will Ackley improve a chambering but I won't modify a chamber more than that ever again.
