Custom PPC bullets

im reading the posts here with an open mind-i have just started shooting bench rest here in the uk using a sako 6ppc and really getting bit by the bug,one thing that a few of you mention is the pressure ring on a bullet, how do you determine where it is? hope i dont need expensive stuff to find out.

On custom flat base benchrest bullets, including Bergers there is a narrow band at the base where the diameter is a few ten thousandths larger than the "shank" just in front of it. All that is needed to measure this is a 1" mic. that reads to .0001. "Factory" bullets have this removed to facilitate their use in automatic loading equipment, or so I have read.
