Custom Made Trigger?

I am interested in buying a falling block single shot rifle for hunting. I have found a Browning B-78, made in the 1970s, and am struck by what a gorgeous rifle it is. BUT, in doing research I have discovered that it has a poorly made, complicated trigger with a reputation of being creepy and needing periodic tuning.

Since I am not interested in preserving authenticity with this rifle, I am wondering if anyone would make a custom precision 3 lb trigger for it, and would the cost be absurd, being as it would be a one of a kind? Any thoughts are welcome.

I know there are no aftermarket triggers made for the B78. What I am wondering is whether anyone here is, or knows, a gunsmith or custom fabricator who can make a trigger or custom fit a pre-made trigger. I don't know how to do such a thing, so it's an assumption on my part that someone with the fabricating tools and the skill could do this.

I know it would be expensive, my question is, if it can be done, how expensive? I consider $400-$500 a reasonable price, but double that raises the question whether the rifle, in spite of how pretty and classy it is, is worth buying if a trigger costs as much as the rest of the gun; a question I can't answer for myself until I have more information.

At one time, Canjar advertised a trigger replacement for the B78. Whether they actually ever produced one is doubtful.

I do not know that tyoe of trigger but I think you are far off in your cost estimate for a one single design. Already the design would costs more, with always a problematic result. 2 orotos triggers out of 3 simply not work as expected.

They are similar to the 1885 Brownings but I understand not the same. I would contact Lee Shaver and see if he would do a trigger job on it. He is an expert on the 1885 triggers and most likely has worked on B-78's.

Having a custom made trigger would cost more than the rifle is worth but a trigger job would probably be less than $200.

I talked with Bob Sears, who designed the rifle for Browning, and he told me that he originally used the 1885 trigger but Browning nixed that design and opted for, in Bob's words, "a completely backwards trigger design".

I've personally watched Lee Shaver do a trigger job on a Browning. YOu won't be sorry and I don't think it will cost you even $100 for the work
