custom built 6mm rem. questions.

I bought a 6mm remington with a heavy barrel on a mauser action I beleive .On the left side of the action it says deutsche waffen-und munitionsfabriken. berlin on the left side the barrel it is marked 6mm and on the right side of the action it has mod. 1908. I bought it at the local firearm shop for $250 the owner said some guy that comes in there all the time traded it to him and he had it built , it wears a western field scope. It came with a bag with load data on which custom rounds shoot best thru it. Here is some pics so what do I have exactly and what is it worth anyone know , does anyone know who made the barrel like i said all that is stamped on the barrel is 6mm rem on the left hand side? I would like to add it has had a trigger job the trigger breaks at about a 2 pound to 2 1/2 pounds . I took it to the local gun show to see what kinda offers I would get , I had alot of lookers and all said it was a nice rifle but no offers.

what you have is a german 98 style mauser action . the 1908 was a popular import about 1984 . they were available in 7mm and 8mm they were a great gun for sporterizing as you can tell by yours . Today they are probably worth as much in original condition as they are in custom if not more . The custom mauser is worth what the buyer is willing to give .
If it shoots $250.00 was a good price .the german writings on the side state that it was made in a factory in berlin . Westernfield scopes were not very expensive and certainly do nothing to enhance the value of the rifle .But it does look like a nice ground hog rig in it's day. I can recall the 7mm's that i got had columbian crests on the top of the receivers .I believe that the importer was Southern Ohio Gun . hope this helps .
The Rifler

I am not really interested in selling it, but more interested on getting more info on this rifle . I have talked to the the store owner I bought it at and he is not interested on giving out the info on who sold him the rifle , I can see that in a way I to would be hesitated about giving out customer info if I ran a business.

Info, On the other hand he could give the previous owner your ph# and (if he wishes) could contact you. That way the decision is up to the previous owner.
