custom action stocks?

Im looking at custom actions,BAT/Lawton 1.47diam) and im wondering if they fit any factory stocks? Can i just slap them in a remington choate stock or?

Most of the factory actions are in the 1.350 diameter area so when a larger diameter action is installed in a stock made for a factory action it has to sit about 1/8 inch higher in the stock. This makes for a really strange looking setup but it is done. The bolt hole locations are another matter altogether. If you want a good looking outfit buy a stock that has been cut for your action.

my concern is the bolt hole locations,trigger and bolt hole inletting. Ive heard alot of custom action are Rem 700 based, so???
I know the diameter is a little larger but figured i could fix that on my own.

Most of the custom actions that claim to have the Remington footprint will have the same O.D., bolt hole spacing etc. Not sure about the bolt handle because whether a handle is straight or swept can effect how it fits the cutout. There always seems to be a little work required around the magazine well, trigger/safety inlets too. But generally speaking if the custom action 'fits a Remington footprint' then it will fit a stock made for Remington. Be sure to discern whether its a long or short action in both cases.
