Cure for eye floaters ?

I was dealing with floaters about 15 years ago, as Dan implies I believe it may be diet related. I never went in for treatment and they went away and haven't returned. At that time I also started focusing on healthier diet habits, nothing radical just healthier. No fast food, more vegetables, higher ratio of proteins vs carbs, and minimal sugar.

Not an Ophthalmologist but experienced with the procedure and worked with them on facial trauma/tumors.... It would be a last resort for significant visual impairment. Retinal detachment is one of the potential complications of having your vitreous removed- Pas Bon if it happens to you. About 25 years ago I discussed removing my vitreous floaters with a close friend who is an Ophthalmologist. It was a very short discussion once he said "Do you want a vitrectomy?". He then responded before I could with the suggestion of 'making friends with my floaters'. Say hello to 'beady' (looks like a beaded chain) and squiggy (kind of twisted up):)

I had one, well... more than one, and have had them for several years. My solution (my optemetrist doesn't know about), is more Bourbon, more Gin, more Tequila, more Scotch, more Single Malt (when the dollars are available for the good stuff),and more fine Rum. All my floaters have disappeared. Well, they don't float in one place anymore! Do not try this at home!

I think he's on to something:rolleyes:

Thank you for the replies.
I am looking at the laser treatment to vaporize the wispy filaments.
They seem to be attached to a small dark spot that doesn't move.

Id think home iz the only safe place to try that. :)

I have had the same one for about 77 years - it sort of looks like a reclining well developed woman. I first realized the phenomena at about age 3 upon waking up from a mandatory early afternoon nap and sleepily gazed out of my bedroom window at the bright blue sky. I did not appreciate the entire aspect of the feature until age 13 -14. In any event, when I was young, I had hawk like vision, better than 20-20, and was frequently detailed to spot small floating objects at sea assisted with 7X50 Bausch & Lomb binoculars. My vision is still relatively good but having a slight cornea clouding I can really appreciate good optic glass & coatings. As I write this I can tip my head back, squint my eyes and there is Francine. :)

So -- alcoholics don't get floaters??o_O Heck, they frequently end-up being floaters..:p jd

Has anyone tried the Vitrectomy procedure for eye floaters.
Steve Bair
Steve, I had the YAG procedure on both eyes after cataract surgery. It pretty much solved the problem and is non-invasive. I still have problems with dryness but that comes with age and Palma.

Prone with irons is what i'm having a problem with.
After the procedure was your vision as clear as before the floaters.
Thanks
Steve
