Cryo Treating to Remove Stress?

Holy cow! I can't believe no one has seen the problem. I don't think it's stress at all. You are simply going to have to work up a new load to get back on an accuracy node. Putting those flutes in the barrel will change the entire vibration characteristic, so it would be surprising if the nodes DID NOT change.

Lots of luck finding a node in a stressed barrel........you'll end up with a lot of stress yourself, not to mention wasting a lot of components

I was in the market for a 270 bbl Rem Var contour 26" long fluted. I called Mike Rock to see if he had one. He had what I wanted but not fluted. He said he would have it fluted for me and when he got it back he would lap it "just in case". I asked him if he had ever had a bbl go crazy after fluting. He said to the best of his memory he had not,but he still laped every one that left his shop just in case.
