Cross Training with a .22 for F/Open

Okay, lots out there on smallbore prone shooting (jackets, slings and gloves) but is there anyone out there doing F/O class training using a 22 rimfire?

I do, had a copy of my main F-Open gun built with a Rem 40x, and enjoy practicing with it.

Not F/O but F/TR. Use a winchester 52 at 130 yds. Gives about the same wind drift as my berger 80 vld 223 at 300. We only shoot 300 f-class at our local range. Get instant feed back for wind calls.

Well, thanks to you two, I think I have myself talked into a rimfire copy of my F-Open rifle... Dang it anyways... :

Yes, we shoot a 200 yard F Class and Benchrest Class 22RF rifle match each month at the Benton Gun CLub, Bryant, Arkansas. I find the 22 LR cartridge drifts about as much as a 308 Win with a 155 SMK at 3000 fps at 1000 yards.

Great fun, but a real test of gun and ammo. We have had 200's shot, but no 200-20X yet.
