Criterion Barrels

Cant beat them for the price.

http://forum.accurateshooter.com/index.php/topic,3767751.0.html

Theres two Criterion barrels showing some good stuff.

I like mine a lot, its the first one in the link from RockKnocker. I have a match on Sunday. I will let you know how it does.

I just screwed a new one on last week. It was reasonably priced, available, and ready to go.

I bore-scoped it before I bought it, and it's certainly a better looking barrel than the Savage factory barrel it replaced (although that doesn't say much).

In the last week I've broke it in and prepped a whole bunch of cases. Copper fouling is much much better than the factory barrel, and it cleans up very easily.

Tomorrow, I'll be working up what will hopefully be a world record setting load (no sense aiming low). I'll let you know. ;)

I just ordered one in 260ai after reading all the posts I could find, now i'm after dies and brass and a go gauge.

Got out today to do some load development with a buddy. My new criterion is a 6.5x284 30" MTU (more or less a replacement for the stock barrel on the Savage f-class 6.5x284). Screwed it on myself last week (see above).

Using the Berger 140 target VLD. Finally settled on a load of 51gr 4831sc, .015 into the lands, at about 2920 fps. At 100, I got three groups at 0.33, .40, and .62. Went to 300 and got an 0.72, 0.92 and a 1.48 (First two were in the same hole, I really blew the third shot. Got a rash of grief for that). Conditions were hot, dry and calm. Mirage was bad, at least for me.

I'm still probably going to play around a little more to see if I can tune just a little more, but I'm pretty happy.
