Crimson Trace 5-25X56MM MIL/MIL FFP and Vortex Viper Gen II 5-25 FFP EBR-7C

Anyone compared these two scopes shooting prairie dogs and/or ground squirrels at distance? Any problems with the reticle being too large at 300-400 yds to see the critters?

Thanks,

Chuck

When I was at SHOT I looked at them bc CT had a very easy buy in program. CT has been great to me over the years so I would give them a try. The scope felt solid to me and the glass looked good as I could see inside the Sands Expo Center. The reticle is simple and a lil thick to me. I was told that they were "a good quality Japanese scope" what ever that means..... ??? I never bought one and went with another company but if you get one please post your findings. I do not know of anyone that has tried their scopes out. I wonder if they are not selling...?
Sorry I don't have any more info for you. Good luck

Thanks for the reply Eternal Student. I decided to go with the Vortex Gen II 5-25 EBR 7 mrad. Have only zeroed it and checked for reticle thickness @ 300 yds. Found out that the reticle does not block a small target @ that distance. Glass quality seems better than my Gen I scopes. Also the bothersome Illumination tube has been moved to the focus knob.

I have 2 or the PST II, FFP, 5-25X50.

One on my 224 Valkyrie and the other on a Savage 6.5 CM.

I shoot 600 yds with both and love the scopes.

The only issue is the 25X is not powerful enough to see the bullet holes in the targets.

Buying a 15-60X52 Vortex Golden eagle this month .

It was either that or a spotting scope.

You wont be dissapointed with the PST II.
