OK Ack,
I spent the winter, first fireforming cases using the COW method and then another batch using bullets. My results were quite clear. The COW method formed cases 99.99%...... CHEAP
Using bullets, I found that a near max load was needed to fully form shoulders.....EXPENSIVE.... with scarce components.

I use habanero hot peppers and COW and it blows everything out 100%.

Now Ed,...you do use the Habanero oil to lube the cases don't you? that is common practice south of the border I have heard Hahahaha!!! you festering old case luber you!!!!

Wrong on both counts! A AI is a wildcat,..you can't buy them in a store can you?....you have to alter brass to have it don't you?...Now I don't care that it is load and shoot, it still needs altered so there for theoretically it is a wildcat! The .308 cases (.243-.338 Federal all have quite a bit of taper.

Bozo geez.........Wildcat brass has to be altered before use. Factory brass doesn't need any alteration to fire in an AI chamber.....being able to shoot factory ammo is the whole point of those things. Improveds aren't wildcats. Shoulder of an improved with .308 parent case increases about .008 as an AI.....not much.

Ackman: I believe what everyone is REALLY trying to tell you is that if you disagree with someone, that's okay. However, when you reply PLEASE use considerably more tact in not only WHAT you say, but HOW you say it! Just remember this: .260 made the video in order to try and help people do something a different way, that MAY save them some $$$'s from components and barrel life">>> "Is there anything wrong with that"? So if you do disagree with someone in the future, think about how your reply is going to be received by the OP AND the others on this forum who are reading your reply... You will be doing yourself a great service.. Ok man..

i have used cow to ff many cases and must point out what an earlier poster mentioned and REALLY stress his point..cow in short cases (br lapua) can ?cook and form a VERY hard clump on the inside of the shoulder and it is very hard to see, BUT it decreased the volumn of the case and if loaded almost hot, you could get pressure signs early and accuracy problems. getting this caking out is not easy either and you do have to use a sharp pick of some kind...an angled pick used for ar cleaning works but i stress how hard this stuff is! i now use half case cow and other half shot buffer and no more cooked cow. DO NOT use a full case of shot buffer as the stuff will melt and you have a plug of plastic trying to go thru a 6mm hole and i almost blew a gun up...only locked down the bolt and broke the sako type extractor. clays pistol powder is my favorite and only 4-6 gr needed for ffing a 6 br case (dasher or 22 br). where to ff...i insert my barrel into a large bale of fire resistent attic insulation and whuummmppp, almost no noise. i'll have to try the rice as cow is slightly abrasive and does contain NaCl(salt).

I wonder if Hornady makes a hydro-forming die for that?
