I was just going through some video files and found this one.
I was walking along a long ridge and stopped at a big pile of rocks. The wind was blowing directly at me, so I decided this would be a good place to call. The spot allowed me to watch a wide swath of ground below me. I started calling and saw some movement below me to my left. At this point, I stowed my rifle and picked up my video camera. I was in a spot in the rocks that I could hunker down, totally out of sight. I quit calling, so I wouldn't foul things up.
This video starts at the point where this coyote is trying to find what he thought he was going to be eating.
Mind you that we are probably just a few feet apart. Once this coyote turns his back to me, I start trying to get into standing position. By the time he clears the rocks, I am standing in full view. He looks bewildered. Whenever you see a coyote flatten his ears out, they are getting very cautious. The priceless part is when I get his eyes the second he sees me. He's spooked, but not scared. To me, this is better than a picture of a dead coyote. I hope you enjoy this video.
