Coyote hunting in Iowa?

Just moved to southwest Iowa, anyone hunting coyotes around here?

What works well, what are some good areas?

Where at in SW Iowa? I'm in NW Missouri so we might be close. Not a lot of rifle shooting goes on up there since they are limited to slugs and muzzle loaders for deer although the last few years they have had a doe only season that they let you use a rifle for in the southern counties. Depending on where you are, you could have just about every kind of hunting from thick timber to wide open creek bottoms and rolling pasture.

I'm in NE Iowa, there are a bunch of good ol' boys that hunt them with dogs in my area (drives the farmers nuts). I use mouth calls, a few friends have fox-pro electronic calls. They can be very wary & call shy, they are used to eating a lot of shot & not recovered (plus roadkill) deer & are very accustomed to being shot at almost year round. We typically get a few during deer season, but only took one this year. On two occasions last fall, I spotted coyotes that were happily eating groundhogs...

i live in NE iowa too and there are a lot of them around. i use mouth calls, and as mentioned, some hunters use dogs. the last couple of years though, i haven't seen as many coyotes as the previous years
