Countersunk muzzle crowns

After seeing some pics of some 300WSMs with some deeply recessed muzzle crowns (countersunk 3/4") I was wondering if there were any drawbacks/benifits of the deeply countersunk crowns. I think the barrels have something like a bloop tube over the muzzle about 3/4" I.D.

I can't really think of any obvious advantages, it would however change the sound of the report slightly. The only disadvantage would be that it makes crowning the barrel much more difficult. I recessed a 300WSM barrel 1 1/4" , added an expansion chamber & made an integral muzzle brake in the barrel because I didn't want additional length in adding a brake.
No problem crowning it BUT it takes a lot longer to set up etc. There are several with the theory that it helps the accuracy of a bullet that exits in a baffled area and that is pretty well supported by the difference in accuaracy that I've seen in barrels pre & post muzzle brakes. This certainly could have been the same theory without the brake blast.

That is usually done to help with muzzle blast, and it does work...
No other reason for doing it...

OK, yes I suppose they would help diffuse the blast.
I dont see many of them around, so I was wondering if there were any accuraccy drawbacks??

My new Browning X bolt composite stalker has a significant recessed muzzle crown. The rifle shoots fine (with my reloads), well under 1 MOA which isn't too bad for a light weight sporter barrel factory gun.
