If cost is an issue, I recommend you send your rifle to Mr. Kolb, a/k/a gundoktr.
For years I have charged $225.00 to chamber a Remington or Savage.I charge more for cone bolts or indexed barrels. This included dialing in both ends =/- .0001", turning, threading (2B), head-spacing using steel gauges (SAAMI spec), chamfering, polishing, removing from lathe, cutting muzzle in bandsaw, reversing, and redialing in, crowning, polishing barrel, test firing, engraving. There is an additional fee for abrasives, and lubricants, shop supplies. I charge $55.00 to use my gauges and reamers.
I spend about three plus hours chambering a barrel. The customer is paying for my skill, experience, equipment, tooling, insurance and guarantee that that rifle will shoot as good as possible given the quality of the action, barrel, trigger, and stock.
