Correct Fastners for Aluminum buttplate Mcmillan fiberglass stock

I looked up 8x32 helicoils, but just not sure I'm going down the right path. I have a new Kestros BR stock that is in need of cutting off and fitting buttplate. Thank you!

McMillan uses wood screws on them. You can get a nice stainless wood screw or an 8-32 brass insert and epoxy it in. When installing something that will be under a potential side load like an adjustable butt system, I prefer a long wood screw and also epoxy the plate to the butt, thats the strongest setup.

Thanks Alex this is a b**** gun and I have a removable weights underneath the plate so I'll need access but it seems like I do remember my inserts being brass on the other stocks that were Factory done I will look on McMaster-Carr site to see if I see brass insert if so I'll get some on the way

This is what I did to install a but plate on a McMillan stock.
1) I put masking tape around the stock in the cut off area. I stood the stock vertically on the butt and used a 1/4" spacer or desired thickness and drew a cut off line on the tape.
2) I hacksawed the desired amount leaving a little to hand finish with file, sandpaper or belt sander.
3) I stood the stock on my aluminum blank and scribed a cut line. Rough cut the plate.
4) I applied thin layer 1/8" to 3/16"of JB Quick Weld to stabilize the center tube and the foam fill.
5) After drilling and countersinking the holes in the but plate I used brass 8/32 threaded inserts for wood from Mennards. I assembled them on to the butt plate. Use screws that do not extend past the end of the threaded inserts or cut the longer ones off flush.
6) I then bedded the butt plate assembly onto the butt by filling the remaining cavity with a light weight auto body filler similar to bondo. Use your favorite bedding release material.
7) Finish fitting the butt plate, polish it and you are on your way.
