corn cob media

hey I ran into a guy the other day that loads his own pills.and we got to talking about the cals we like to load for and all.then for some reason we ended up on cleaning brass and he told me that he buys corn cod media from Wal-Mart.and I said to myself my Wal-Mart doesn't sale reloading stuff.but he went on to telling me that he buys if from the pet section of the store.and today I just had to go and take a looksee for myself.and he was right.they have a really nice size bag of it for jut 4.00.so if you guys who like to use corn cob media and do not now about getting it a Wal-Mart you do now.

now take this with a grain of salt.I have been loading for about 12 years and just ordered my first case tumbler.been doing it the old school way and thought it was time to join in on the new age side of reloading.so for me to have just learned a new trick or what else will work or even a better place to get more for your money for the first time gives you guys a laugh.then let the laugh be on me.

this again is why I love the world of reloading so much.you just never know who or how much you may learn for this sport/hobby.take care and keep shooting.

next time I go to wal-mart will pick some up ,I have been paying $14.00 for the Lyman media ~Danny

I, too, buy Lyman corn-cob Green media from Midsouth Shooter Supply for many years. It last's a long time, per change. Polishes quite well per session, but I actually have a Wal-Mart merely several miles from my home in the Michigan sticks. Humm! A pet shop supply? Cliffy

Wall-Mart may be a good idea for cleaning media and here's another. Try your favorite pet store, one who sells bird stuff. Ask about ground corn cobb, I found it comes in sizes. If I remember right the kind I use is #16 (very fine). Last time I bought some I think it was around $25 for a 50lb bag.

Good shooting, Jim

now that some of you guys have hit me post.I have to let you guys now that after Santa in the big green truck came and droped of my stuff.I found out that the media at Wal-Mart is a little bigger than the stuff from Midway.but the guy who told me about the media at Wal-Mart loaded for a 7mmBR and said it worked fine for him.so I'll let you guys make the call if you want to use it or not.just wanted to pass on a money saveing idea to the rest of the shooting world.we all spend enough of money on the rest of the stuff we need to reload with already.so saveing in one place can help out with the other.hope I was able to help the reloading world out.John

pet stores also have crushed walnut for lizard bedding. it may be a little on the fine side depending in the suppler. I would recommend depriming first. it will work down into the fired primer and then show up on your press.

I tried it awhile back out of curiosity and it worked but took twice as long to get my brass clean,I figured the midway stuff had some kind of chemical that aided in the polishing. c

If you use the wal-mart pet/pet store media just add liquid car polish to it. Works just as good as the premade stuff but more economical. You can also find it at Harbour Freight outlets.

yeah I know some Wal-Marts do.the first time I saw that a Wal-Mart sold reloading stuff was in Boone NC.was getting some stuff for the trip we took their and ran across it.almost thought I wasn't in a Wal-Mart.but when I put two and two together I got four.being in the mountains and all made good since to me for them to sale it.but to bad our Wal-Mart doesn't sale it.not many reloaders around here.would think the shelves would stay stocked.

yeah or Wal-Mart droped guns about 2-3 years age all so after they built a newer one.but still have basic ammo when its their.but hey I reload,so no need for ammo.
