Corbin Benchrest bore cleaner

Was wondering if anybody is using, or has used this cleaning solution. I have a pint I recently started using in 22lr, 223, and 30 cal. It sure does seem to clean down to bare bore quickly. I follow the directions using a patch soaked brush and am very happy with the results. Dont know if its considered to extreme compared to other cleaners. Dont want to start another cleaning discussion mostly wondering if anybody has experience with this product. Thanks

Is it petroleum or aqueous based?

Do you really want / need to clean down to bare metal especially with a 22 rimfire? Does that give you the best results on target? Just asking, not trying to create another cleaning thread filled with controversy.

I have not used it, but will watch the answers here to see if anyone else has had positive results.

I agree with the not another cleaning thread where the question never gets addressed and is filled with " this is what I use, or this is how I do it" stuff.

From the Corbin website

Corbin Benchrest Bore Cleaner has been used by top shooters at Camp Perry and Wimbledon for over two decades. It is one of the "little known secrets" of the firearms trade, and is found in very few stores or retail outlets (only the very top specialty gun stores seem to know about it). It uses a mechanical prying action, of millions of tiny (15-20 micron) levers to lift and pry fouling of any composition from the bore. Since it does not rely on chemical reaction (the material is inert, with an oil base carrier), the type of fouling does not matter.

Plastic, lead, copper, brass, even excess build-up of molybdenum disulfide from shooting too many "moly coated" bullets, can all be removed down to the steel barrel by stroking two inches forward, one back, until the patch and 1-caliber undersize brass brush around which the patch is wrapped emerge from the barrel (clean from breech if possible). Then wipe the bore with Corbin Five-Star Gun Oil to wipe out the bore cleaner, and you have the cleanest possible barrel.

I have been able to get copper and moly out of a used barrel rather easily. As for rimfire (benchrest ARA IR5050, ABRA) most uf us clean after every card. Ive tried most of the methods over the years. Have settled on Clean is the easiest way to duplicate results. So yes clean and refoul before targets. Usually 25 score shots. v/r Craig. Others have their own opinion. But have a new (old) 223 rem 700 with a pitted and rough barrel that it gets the copper out of following the routine listed above from the can or website. Thats why I was wondering? Friend gave me a 22lr barrel that he said wouldnt shoot anymore. Now I'm talking IR5050 250 scores repeatable, I scoped and saw it was black streaked inside so decided to use this. Several cycles it was back to clean and shiney. Put if back on his gun and he still uses it on his unlimited gun to this day. To be honest I bought this back in 89 when I bought a swaging press and other supplies from Corbin. After desert storm 1991 I quit shooting until recently and have been shooting rimfire for 3 years and just picked up the rem 700 and another in 30br so dont have much history but the articles about abrasives got me to wondering. Sorry for rambling.

This is the very best bore clear extant, and I've used them all.

It will POLISH your bore. Benchrest shooters have been known to use it.

It is my go-to. I'm on my second quart...
