Looking for a Dakota or Cooper with AAA wood or better and nicely optioned. Anything from rimfire through the varmint calibers are of interest. Thanks in advance! John
Have you tried First Stop Guns? Also look on Guns International, I've had good luck on that site.
I agree. And to be fair, these were basically small Nesika actions, with bedding and fitment from the Nesika team, with the Dakota brand engraved on it. They were very good and nice looking rifles. I didn't consider these in the original/classic Dakota hunting-type rifles assortment. You find a good pre-remington dakota snatch it up. I have a varminter, it has the little single shot nesika action, it came with full figure wood, the jewell trigger option, krieger barrel in 6x47L and is a one hole shooter, way too nice to carry though. Every part of it even the bedding is flawless. And it comes with a practical test target.
agreed, Last few years of Montana coopers should have come with a disclaimer on shipping box and in manual saying "some assembly required". I still have a few older coopers but only seeking more Dakotasthere are a lot more Coopers for sale than Dakotas. That aught to tell you which ones are more sought after. I’ve owned several of both. I only own Dakota’s now.
pre-remington Dakotas are so vastly superior to coopers. I had as many as 14 coopers. that was until I discovered DakotaYou find a good pre-remington dakota snatch it up. My Dakota Varminter 17 FB is so much superior to the two coopers I had owned. Only thing I have ever done to a Dakota is replace an occasional trigger with a Jewell trigger. The fit and finish on my Dakota Varminter in 17 Fireball is nicer than anything I've seen. Including many cooper's. Shoots bug holes, wood is beautiful , and as mentioned above the bedding is nothing short of astonishingly great.
I took my trigger apart and stoned/resprung it. It is now a crisp 1.5lbs. Factory trigger was around 3.5lbs.....much too heavy for a light Varminter. My Dakota Varminter 17 FB is so much superior to the two coopers I had owned. I wish my 6x47L was a tiny caliberMy Dakota Varminter 17 FB is so much superior to the two coopers I had owned. Only thing I have ever done to a Dakota is replace an occasional trigger with a Jewell trigger.
