Cooper Model 21 trigger question

One of the guys at work bought a Cooper 21 in 204 last year that I found for him on this forum. He asked me today if the trigger was adjustable and since I have never laid eyes on the rifle I told him I would ask here if the factory trigger has like the Remington which I am very familiar with. It is maybe a 4 year old rifle. Thanks. Tom

Cooper triggers are not the best. Cooper says only an experienced gunsmith should attempt adjustment. Took mine to the smith and he was able to bring it down to 15 oz, but could not get all the creep out of it. I do not know of any aftermarket triggers.

To answer your question, Cooper triggers are adjustable safely to between 16 & 24 oz in my experience. Cooper says only an experienced gunsmith should attempt adjustment for liability reasons. That makes sense, doesn't it? I am not an experienced gunsmith but adjust my own triggers. Anyway, I am very satisfied with my Cooper triggers in my eleven varmint rifles (no creep) and use the Jard aftermarket trigger in my TRP 3 with the 2oz spring so yes, there is an aftermarket trigger.

Tom, I like my Cooper triggers a lot. I understand the company point of view because of legal issues, etc., but the trigger is actually quite easy to tune. I have a Model 21 and Model 22 and they are easily tuned down into the "ounces" and creep is non-existent. Fine guns with fine actions.
