COOPER IN 6MMBR

I have a Cooper M22 MTV in 6BR with a 26” barrel. It is a 14 twist and seems to really like 65 gr. V-max, 68 gr. Bergers, and 75 gr. Sierra Varminters equally well, that is 1/4" 100 yd. groups. I've used VV N135, Varget, and AA2520 successfully in this rifle. As far as rating this rifle, I can tell you I’m tickled pink with this one.

Hi jwv2001 & All

Thanks for the reply. What dies do you use,do coopers chamber there barrels in remimgton br or norma br.Plus do coopers have minimum spec chambers i:e better than factory spec.

many thanks
WAYNE.

Cooper's chamber is a Norma chamber. It is not a tight neck chamber which suits me just fine. You can use the brass just as it comes from the box and don't have to fool around turning necks. I'm using both Lapus and Remington brass. There is a measurable difference in the Remington brass after the first firing as it conforms to the Norma chamber. A curious thing is I use Reddings 3 die set,FL & neck sizer and seating die) and they are marked 6MM BR Remington but they size the brass to the Norma spec, not the Remington spec. I also tried the Lee 6 PPC collet neck sizer dies. This is a slick setup but doesn't size the neck all the way to the mouth. It leaves a slight flair at the case mouth, so I've sent off a couple of pieces of Lapua brass and a couple of Berger bullets to have a custom set of dies made.
While Lapua brass is no doubt a quality product, I have found no difference in the shooting between Lapua and Remington brass. The Remington has a .080 flash hole compared to Lapua's .060.

I have a M22 varmint in 6mmBR which i got from Brian Fox early last year.
It also has the 26" barrel and 14 twist, i have fitted it with a 6.5-20x50 Leuppy.
I load Lapua brass in Wilson dies, a 30.5grn charge of Vit135 consistantly puts 68grn Bergers into sub .375" groups at 3100fps.
Its a fantastic accurate rifle and a joy to use, to think i nearly bought a Sako! having compared the two side by side i know i made the right choice.

Ian.

hi centerpunch

was tempted to buy a sako 6ppc but they stoped making them
only other option was the coopers or the rpa but they are
twice the price .

many thanks
