Cooper 6BR Varminter Rifle--Impressions?

I would like to know if anyone has any experience, good or bad) with the Cooper 6BR rifle? I am desiring to obtain a 6BR and thought purchasing one from the "factory" so to speak would be a direct way to accomplish this. I realize the accuracy would not be on a par with a custom action/barrel/stock setup, however I've always wanted to try a Cooper and thought this might be my opportunity. I am involved with local shoots with ranges from 100 to 500 yards - the 6BR would place me in the open class. Also does anyone know what the standard Cooper 6BR barrel twist rate is? In addition does anyone know if the Cooper is setup to use standard Lapua brass without neck turning. Any and all advice is very much appreciated.

James,
I'm not sure of the twist in the 6BR Cooper, but I'm sure you could find it on their web page. I have a few Coopers and my 22ppc does very well in an informal bench rest match at our local club. My friends and I can regularly kill Prairie Dogs at 500+ yards with our smaller 17AH, 17 Mach IV, and .19-223 Cooper rifles.

I'm sure the 6BR in a Cooper would be a great rifle.I know for a fact that you can specify a different twist if you want. It is however expensive; I would think if you are going to limit your shooting to 500yds that a 12 twist would be pretty good with the various bullet offerings.

The rate of twist on a Cooper 6mmBR is 1 in 14". I am also interested in a 6mm Cooper. I have a Cooper MTV in 223 AI and a LVT in 22LR. I'm leaning towards the 6mmBR just because it seems easier,?) to obtain the brass than a 6ppc. The biggest problem with the Coopers is, once you buy one you start looking to buy another. The accuracy guarantee for Cooper centerfires is 1/2" @ 100 yds. with handloads. I've found that with my Cooper, halving that guarantee was easy. My groups while fireforming were in the low .3's. Once my load was developed, groups were in the low .2's with .193" my best 5 shot group @ 150 yds.
