Cool Acres Match 3,4 & 5 , 6 March 4&5 2017

Cool acres match 3 will be a 2 target with shootoff format.
Its an attempt to evaluate IBS option 2 of the SOY format the following will be the format we will use in match 3
Heavy Gun will start the day all heavy gun relays will shoot sighted and one target of 10 shots for record and remove equipment from bench .
After Heavy Gun has completed . Light gun will prepare benches and shoot sighted and 5 shots for record on 1st target and then remove equipment from bench.
After the completion of Light gun target 1 relays .Heavy Gun participants wanting to shoot 2nd target after viewing their first target will prepare to shoot relays shooters will set up and shootsighters and 10 shots on target 2 at the completion of 2nd set of Heavy Gun relays Light Gun will do the same after viewing their first target and shoot sighted and 5 shots on 2nd target after 2nd round of Light Gun relays is complete Heavy Gun shootoff will prepare and shoot HG shootoff followed by Light gun shootoff. If a shooter declines to shoot the 2nd target he or she must notify Range Master (David Matthews)
This format will take one more set of loaded ammo for both light gun and Heavy gun if you chose to shoot 2nd target .
After the completion of match 3 we will take a lunch break and discuss what we have learned from this format for the future. Please come with extra ammo and extra love and fun in you goody bags so we can be sure to have a good time regardless of anything else. Also be thinking about things we could do next month at the state shoot after we get done Saturday as far as shooting I think we are working on food options or will be by then just wanted to have a hour or so of Funtime some how weather it's balloons or golf balls at 1000 yards . Thank you for the kind words me and my family love this sport both 600 and 1000 and we want it to be around along time.
There's nothing that can't be made better it takes people working together at some point it may or may not work and that's how you get better as a person and a group and I believe we are doing that by trying things . I hope we have a great turn out at Cool Acres Next Mounth and it will be a true test of this format and I look forward to the likes as well as the dislikes because that's how you build something together everyone has a thought and a idea that just might work.
Either way we are going to have fun shoot some targets a little BS too . I hope that one day down the road we get some equipment suppliers involved more and we develope a SOY prize package as well as match packages as well. I have ask a few so I will ask everyone shooter or shooter interested in shooting bench rest . Email me dwm70@yadtel.net the 3 top things if you could change in IBS benchrest 600 or 1000 what would they be I seriously want to see your ideas I don't want to post the all over a forum because that usually doesn't end up good but I can read them and pass them on to others that maybe able to help. It's Been a long wild unusual day . My opinion is your gonna be hard pressed to find a majority that agree.(weather to shoot more or not)

The guys that win year in and year out, through multiple barrels, not just one hummer. These guys most likely don't want to double or triple their work load or their round count down the barrel. They have figured out that getting, and keeping them shooting is WORK. They may take as long as 4 hours to build one relay worth of ammo, and also work for a living. They probably put more rounds on the barrel just getting it to be top notch, and realize the work involved getting it there.

For me, I not only don't want to shoot/load more.... I hardly can stand shooting the extra shoot off target lol. I can only speak for myself and anyone in the same boat..... I haven't a clue about mass production of a bunch of half assed ammo


I shoot 1000 yard benchrest BECAUSE it is the most challenging thing there is. I shoot it BECAUSE I have the desire and drive to amaze myself.

Thanks Tom and I will and you are correct in your thoughts and there are many that have the same thought as well as many who want to shoot more like you said don't know if there is ever going to be a happy medium.

Just a reminder Cool Acres match 3,4 this coming Saturday and match 5 and 6 Sunday. Weather forcast is looking nice with a little wind . Remember match 3 will be a 2 target with shoot off match. Quick note hope everyone trip home was safe and fun. Match 3 went as expected time frame was as expect received good comment on the format as well . I will let others post on here there feelings and ideas . Once again I want to thank everyone who came out and made this a good weekend. Great Job by the Cool Acres Crew y'all rock as always.

The match results are on the IBS web site I find it totally amazing that we are giving long range marksman points for not even winning I have 104.750 long range marksman points and none of them came from finishing second place, and in match #6 shoot off a shooter was given points for a DQ in the shoot off what's next? everyone will get points for paying the entry Fee, also herd that there is talk of changing the Bronze , Silver and Gold levels because it is to easy to get,
Why are we changing the system is not broken leave it alone.
