Converting RH Bolts to LH?

Well seeing how I am ergomically challenged how easy or possible would it be to convert a right hand bolt to true left hand bolt?

I know some will say just go to PT&G but a new bolt with all its innards is almost $400 +/-.

Thanks,

Allen

Mr. Salazar,

Sorry, its for a Remington 700. I saw the LA/RH bolts listed for sale here in the forums and was just curious how hard it would be to change them from a RH action to a LH action. I have Defiance left hand LA that needs a bolt. Things being as they are paying $400 for a brand new PT&G bolt is kind of hard to do right now.

OK, now that I have a fuller picture of the project, I see what you want to accomplish. Unfortunately, it really can't be done in a practical manner. Although a left-hand bolt handle with the appropriate extraction cam could be attached to the right-hand bolt body, the cocking cam (ramp) in the bolt body is backwards for a left-hand rifle. Between the cost of the handle and welding up the existing cam and cutting a new cam you would spend far more than a new bolt.

It also seems to me that the threads for the bolt plug [ aka the bolt shroud ] would need to be LH instead of the current RH.
