Converting a Regular Stocked Rifle Into a “Chassis Rifle”

A while back, I built a 308 on a new Remington action. It has a PTG bolt, Jewel trigger, Krieger 1-11 twist Remington Varmint taper at 25 inches. It has my own tuner and muzzle brake.

Just to do it, I want to convert the barreled action to a chassis setup with a detachable magazine and probably a bi-pod.I have never built one, so I am open for any advice.

here is the Rifle as it looks now.5E7A8CFD-3B5C-4915-8A06-4B3CC61F0F8F.jpeg

The only real 'trick' is making sure you get all the bits n bobs that you need. Some come with different options for the fore-end, or the butt stock. Folding or not, lightweight or heavy duty. Fully enclosed fore-end, keymod, mlok, arca, etc. Some have add-on weights, some have magnesium components, depending on how heavy - or not - you want the finished setup to be.

I think MPA (Masterpiece Arms) Comp is the best looking one out there. I'm biased. I have one.

I also have an MDT ACC. Personally, I think it's ugly as hell but it's good a good feel. It's very long and balanced well.

MPA has stupid long lead times... but you might get lucky and find a right-handed one at the various retailers.

I have 4 KRG Bravos. 2 on Zermatt Origins, 1 on a Rem 700, 1 on a CZ 527. Also have an MDT Oryx on a Savage for a beater truck gun. Agree with the above about the ugly, but it does feel good and it handles well.

I don't think you would be disappointed in the KRG Bravo. Nice piece of gear. The only thing I changed is I removed the front stud and stuck on an Mlok stud so I could easy on/off for bipod or sandbag.

XLR element with a Sierra Precision grip. Just as good as the others but much cheaper (IMO!)

The MPA comp is by far my favorite "feeling" gun to shoot. Everything fits like a glove. It's one of those guns I bring out when I just want to shoot for no reason other than being at the range. Not tuning, not testing, not practicing... just enjoying.

I did have to put a regular grip on mine. That stupid straight one sucks. It must have been designed by those guys that hold their ar rifles out past the gas block when they shoot

I like the vert grip a lot. I only shoot prone (f-class) so I don't really "use" much of the grip anyway...
