Convert Savage

I need advise on converting my Savage model 12 varmint barrels to 6BR one is a 223 and the other is a 243 both are the same small shank which would be the better of the two also would like to get the same contour barrel so it will fit my stock w/o too much sanding

Just converted a blind mag 243 action to 6mmBR. It's my forth model 12 Savage. Feed is not a problem when shooting single shot. 223 will need a new bolt face, but that's all. Buy from Savage (you'll have to sign a release) or aftermarket. Any savage pre-fit varmint weight barrel should fit your stock with little sanding.
IF you go to Northland Shooting Supply you can find barrels, precision ground recoil lugs and barrel nuts, action vice, nut wrench and everything you'll need to switch barrels. Great people to work with.
